Miracle maker: another Sunday stomper for Rossi

Valentino Rossi converted a tough weekend to a podium in Qatar, and the nine time World Champion did it again in Argentina to get back on the rostrum in his 350th World Championship race.

Outside the top 15 on Friday, forced into Q2 and only just through to fight for his P7 qualifying position, the number 46 made a good start and got in the mix early to fight for the podium - stalking Cal Crutchlow (LCR Honda) for P2 after reigning Champion Marc Marquez crashed out.

Now it's Texas time, where the 'Doctor' aims to take the fight to the front once again.

Valentino Rossi, P2: “It was a good race, I feel better than in Qatar. We improved the setting a lot, we arrived there after another difficult weekend. After Qatar I hoped to arrive here and be stronger also in the practice, but I suffered a lot. Yesterday we were stronger and also lucky to get into Q2, then this morning I started with the first bike and it wasn’t so bad. But I stopped to try something else and it was important to understand the setting for the race. It was good, good start and first lap and I could push to the end – I felt comfortable on the bike and with my physical condition, because in Qatar I was very tired. The fight with Cal was great – I knew I would have to fight with him to get on the podium, but when I followed him I saw I had a bit more. It’s an important second place, for me, for my team, and for the whole team with a Yamaha 1-2 – and it’s good with the points in the Championship.”
